Key features

  • Convert JPG and PNG images to WebP, or convert to JPG or PNG instead
  • Set the quality from 10% to 100% for WebP and JPG — lower quality makes a smaller file
  • Set a maximum file size in KB: the quality is lowered only as much as needed to fit
  • Resize by percentage (1–100%) with a slider or the 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% shortcuts; width and height keep their proportions

  • See each image's size and dimensions before and after, and the percentage saved
  • Download images one by one, or all at once as a ZIP; files keep their original names with the new extension
  • Photo details such as EXIF data and location are removed; phone photos stay the right way up

What is an image converter?

An image converter saves a picture in a different file format. Storerivo's Image Converter turns JPG and PNG product photos into WebP — a format that is usually much smaller at the same visible quality — and can also save them as JPG or PNG. While converting, it can shrink the images, change their shape to a ratio such as 1:1, and keep each file under a size you set.

How to convert images to WebP

  1. Upload your images — click the upload area or drag them onto it. JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP files can be added together.
  2. Choose the format: WebP (the default), JPG or PNG.
  3. Set the quality, and optionally a maximum file size in KB.
  4. Resize with the percentage slider, and pick an aspect ratio if you need one — with a border or cropped.
  5. Click "Convert Images". Each image is listed with its new size and the percentage saved.
  6. Download each image, or all of them at once as a ZIP file.

Choosing the right options

  • Quality: 75–85% keeps product photos sharp while cutting the file size a lot. Quality doesn't apply to PNG, which is lossless.
  • Maximum file size: useful when a marketplace or website limits uploads. The quality is lowered step by step only until the file fits; if it still doesn't fit at the lowest quality, the result says so — resize the image smaller and convert again.
  • Resize: a percentage of the original width and height, from 1% to 100%. Images are never enlarged.
  • Aspect ratio: "Add border" keeps the whole picture and fills the extra space with your background colour; "Crop" trims equally from both sides. Square (1:1) images suit most marketplace listings — check your marketplace's own image guidelines for exact sizes.
  • Background colour: fills borders, and transparent areas when converting to JPG, because JPG can't be transparent.

Are your images safe?

Yes. Your images are converted by your own web browser and never uploaded — not to Storerivo and not to anyone else. The converted files are created on your device. Photo details stored inside the original files, such as camera information and location (EXIF), are not copied into the converted images.

Limitations

  • Only JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP images can be converted. HEIC photos from iPhones, GIF, SVG and RAW files are not supported.
  • Animated images are saved as a single still frame.
  • Creating WebP needs a browser that can save WebP images, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Browsers that can't (including some versions of Safari) show a message and can still convert to JPG or PNG.
  • Very large images use a lot of memory; on a phone, convert big batches in smaller groups if the page slows down.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a JPG or PNG to WebP?

Upload your images, leave "Convert to" on WebP, and click "Convert Images". Each image is converted in your browser and listed with its new size; download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Why convert product images to WebP?

WebP files are usually much smaller than JPG or PNG files of the same picture at a similar quality, so pages and catalogues load faster. Some marketplaces only accept JPG or PNG uploads, so the converter can also create JPG and PNG files.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The images are read and converted by your own web browser, and the converted files are created on your device. Nothing is sent to Storerivo or anyone else.

How do I make an image a smaller file size?

Lower the quality, resize the image to a smaller percentage, or both. You can also enter a maximum file size in KB: the converter lowers the quality step by step until the file fits. If an image is still too large at the lowest quality, it tells you, and resizing it smaller will help.

What does "Add border" and "Crop" mean when I change the aspect ratio?

"Add border" keeps the whole image and adds space around it in the background colour you choose, so a portrait photo becomes a square without losing anything. "Crop" trims the image equally from both sides to the new shape, which removes part of the picture but adds no border.

Does it make images larger?

No. Resizing goes from 1% to 100% of the original size, so images are never enlarged. A converted file can occasionally come out larger than the original — for example a small, already compressed JPG converted to PNG — and the result list shows this with the percentage change.

What happens to transparent PNG backgrounds?

WebP and PNG keep transparency. JPG cannot be transparent, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose (white by default).
